One of my personal passions is scholarships in the technical and engineering fields for deserving Bahamians at Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute and The College of The Bahamas through public and private sources. I believe that the future of the Bahamas and our economic success, will be closely linked with our ability to harness, in an environmentally sensitive manner, the natural resources of our beautiful archipelago for our development. This will require a cadre of educated, skilled, technically savvy Bahamians.
Receiving a Lyford Cay Foundation scholarship gave me a sense of humility, pride and responsibility as it reminded me that others had recognised my academic potential; but with that potential came a responsibility to maximise all opportunities afforded to me to further my academic goals and once achieved, to play a positive role in the future development of the Bahamas.
The Bahamas is reaping the benefits of the good works of the Foundation over the many years and all involved — past and present — should be applauded and thanked for their kindness from a grateful nation.
