The saying “home is where the heart is” rings so true in my life. I had the opportunity to work at various institutions in New York and gathered a wealth of knowledge. It was important to explore my horizons knowing that I would return home to make a positive contribution to The Bahamas. I think it’s so important to return home and help others obtain the same opportunities that many of us have been given.
When some of the alumni got together a few years ago, we wanted to make a contribution to assist other students with the opportunity to continue on to a higher education. We organised a reception, “Revel in the Arts”, which raised funds to help many students go on. The Foundation has taught us it is important to share the gifts that we have been blessed with. It is the gift that keeps on giving.
I am grateful to God for the love and support of my parents, J. W. Crispin and Catherine Benjamin, who provided a loving home and guidance and for sacrificing so much so we would be who we are today. A special thank you, of course, to the donors of the Foundations for their continued generosity, commitment and support of the youth of our country through the field of education. These are our future leaders and the true wealth of our nation.
