I was the last of 6 children. I went to public schools from elementary to high school. I tell people all the time that there is no way I would have a PhD today if it were not for scholarships. Harry Moore and the Lyford Cay Foundation are a big part of why I am where I am today.
We have to be realistic about our country: about what’s possible here and what’s not. I am an educator. It’s my job to prepare young people to be thinkers, to seize the opportunities their world has to offer. The best thing I can do for my country is help to train and prepare curious, questioning, bold young Bahamians who believe they can solve any problem and who are able to find work anywhere in the world.
