Cutillas Scholars is a scholarship programme for grade 11 students in public schools throughout The Bahamas who will be first in their families to go to college.

Successful students will receive full scholarships to attend either University of The Bahamas or The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute.

 

Cutillas Scholars

Six students will receive full scholarships to attend either University of The Bahamas or The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute.

Beginning in grade 11 through to college graduation, these students will receive.

Academic Readiness

Individualised academic support, particularly in Math and English to ensure that each Scholar is ready for college level courses.

Financial Aid

Students are eligible to enrol in any Associate or Bachelor degree programmes available to them at UB or BTVI and will receive financial aid.

College support

College may be fun and exciting, but it could also be a bit overwhelming. Because of this, students will have support as they transition to and participate in college-level courses.

2016 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Messaging of going to college reached 1,000 plus students, 351 signed up for the programme.
  • 56% of those who signed up were first generation college students.
  • After three rounds of engagement, including an interview, six Scholars were selected, four from New Providence and two from Grand Bahama.
  • Current Cutillas Scholars are supported through monthly workshops and weekly tutoring. They will begin college in Fall 2017.
  • Cohort two recruitment and engagement began last fall.
